Guide to Auditoning and Dancing at a Strip Club

Deciding to audition to become a stripper is the easy part but actually knowing what to in before, during, and after that audition process is the hard part. Use this guide to the auditioning and dancing at the strip club to insure that you are informed and will like the club you are going to strip at.
Your first job should be to research and do some simple process of elimination. Locate all of the strip clubs that are located near the area you want to strip in and make a list of the names and contact information. Start at the top of the list and jot down what type of club each one is ( nude, topless, etc.) and cross off the ones that you are not interested in or comfortable with. Now it is time for the real research to begin. You can research the clubs by using the following ways:
- Search the Internet for reviews that include customer comments about the strip clubs you are considering. Read as many as possible and be on the lookout for customers talking about drama amongst the strippers, strippers allowing illegal things, and other negative things. Some positives comments that you can look for are customers complaining about being thrown out by security, being turned down for illegal activities, and so on. These comments are especially useful to you as a prospective stripper at the strip club because it allows you to see the club through customers’ eyes. If you notice a lot of comments about being able to pay for sexual favors, it will let you know that the same might be expected from you as well.
-Visit the strip club yourself and pay attention to the way that the strippers interact with each other, their fellow staff, and maybe even buy a lap dance. Use this time to get an inside view at what is expected during a lap dance at that particular strip club. A stripper that I know gives the advice to now let any strippers know that you are thinking of hiring on the club until you are hired. She said that she used to make up tales of bad management, stripper drama, and bad tipping to detour them from auditioning because they were competition for money and customer attention. Use this visit to pay close attention to the strippers that are working and watch their dance movements and pole tricks. This will come in handy later during your audition.
Once you have compiled all your information on the strip clubs, try to narrow it down to just a couple clubs. Approach the management at the club and express your interest in the club. See if management can give you a tour of the strip club, including the dressing room area. You also need to ask about their security measures, dancers’ fees, and how much you pull in for drinks and private dances. Two other great questions to ask are what types of private dances that they offer at the club and what is their audition process. After your tour, let management know that you are touring another club and will come back if you pick their club. Before you go to the strip club for the audition, spend a couple nights practicing walking in your heels around your house.
The Audition
Once you have chosen the strip club you want to dance at, contact the management to let them know that you would like to audition for their strip club. Be polite to all the employees inside the strip clubs, including the other strippers. Employees may be asked for their first impression when management is making their decision. All strip clubs vary in their method of auditioning. Large clubs will tend to stick you on a side stage for a couple of songs and then speak to you to gauge your personality. If you are going to strip club where you audition on a side stage, be prepared for customers to approach the stage. Smaller clubs may wait until after hours and let you do your audition then. Whatever size strip club you are auditioning, do not drink at all before your audition to calm your nerves. Make sure that you bring a dancing outfit and heels, are trimmed neatly below the belt, and you have showered and shaved.
Before you begin, ask for all of the rules regarding that particular strip club. You need to know if they allow floor dancing, pole tricks, and anything else that is not allowed. A normal set at a strip club lasts anywhere from 2 to 3 songs. The first song usually consists of the stripper staying completely clothed and it is usually where strippers do there best and most difficult pole tricks. The second song would be where your costume is removed or if it is a totally nude club, the top of your outfit. If you are only doing a two song set, follow the tip for the third song. The start of the third or last song should have you down to the minimum you can go to.
Your audition should consist of basic dance movements and pole twirls. If you are comfortable, you can do very easy pole tricks. Keep the flashy tricks to a minimum though and let your sensuality and personality shine through. Most strip club managers know that you are not going to come in right off the bat and flip upside down on the stripper pole. Do what you feel confident doing in your audition and it will show through to those watching.
After you have completed your set, you will probably be asked a few questions to see how you come across to customers. Be a little flirty and charming in your answers but do not act as though you are trying to hard. Keep your answers free from any overtly sexual sayings and be natural while doing all of that.
The Job
Now that you have gotten the job, you need to know the basics of stripping. You are the only person who decides how much money that you can make. Try choosing some great songs that you can dance to and make up dances to the chorus, beginning or end and then wing the rest. Planning a complete routine can leave you appearing bored and your customers will eventually become tired of seeing the same dance routine over and over. Get your song lists approved by management and then turn it into the DJ. It is important that you use songs that are not on your list as well though to avoid boredom of you and the customers.
Pole tricks actually involve a lot of strength and balance. Pole tricks are also very dangerous to strippers and you should not try them without a lot of practice. Ask your manager or house mom if you are allowed to come into the club after hours and practice using the pole. A strip club that I frequent has a feature dancer come in on a regular basis and teach the strippers tricks and gives them money making tips. Practice makes perfect and it makes you and the strip club more money.
When you are working at a strip club, it is nearly impossible to keep drama and jealousy out of the workplace. There are a few stripper etiquette rules that should be followed when you are a stripper. The main rules are:
- Do not approach a customer if he is with another stripper unless he or she calls you over to the table. The stripper with the customer will feel as though you are trying to take her business.
- If a stripper has a regular customer and you know it, leave the customer alone unless he makes contact with you. The couple bucks you might get from him are not worth the drama it would bring with it.
- Keep all of your belongings under lock and key at the club. Label your makeup, accessories, toiletries, outfits and anything else you bring in or leave at the strip club. This will remove the threat of theft or accusations of theft. Strippers will sometimes accuse their rival strippers of theft to get them out of the club.
These are the basic rules that strippers should abide by to have a less stress workplace where everyone can make some money.
Security and Rules
It is extremely important that you find out all of your strip club’s rules before you work. Strip clubs have rules that vary widely so do not assume that you know everything. Following these rules is important and allowing anything outside the rules could put you in danger. Allowing a simple touch of the leg could snowball in a customers mind, leading him to believe that you allow anything to happen. It sounds ridiculous but alcohol can make this happen quite easily.
If you are the victim of a rule breaking client, make sure that you tell the bouncer and point out the offender. This will give your bouncer the heads up to keep an extra close eye on him, if the rule breaker does not get thrown out immediately. Have your security staff walk you to your car every night. This is extremely important because stalkers are a very real threat when you work as a stripper. Once you are safely on the road, check for vehicles that could be following you. I was friends with a stripper that was followed home once and had a customer show up at her home on her day off. He knew her real name, her work hours, her address everything. Being overly cautious is the safest thing that you can be when you are working as a stripper.
Stripping can be a fun and easy way to make money but it is important to be safe while you are doing it. Following this easy auditioning and dancing guide for the strip club is a great way to be informed about what lies ahead.
